Nothing is safe anymore! This statement is true but could be construde as something a nay sayer would state. The chance that you will become a victim of mail theft or identity theft is small. Never say never! The time you feel safe is when you will become a victim. I read somewhere that all the crimes are commited by less than 2% of the population. As a former rural mail carrier, I saw and heard about a lot of thing that happen in the USPS. The day that you put an outgoing letter with confidential information in it is the night that a mail thief will steal your mail. Not the other 364 days that you were carefull. Even locking mailboxes are not theft proof. If a theif wants something bad enough, they wil;l figure out a way to get it. I have a free report on 7 ways to protect yourself from mail theft. Just go to http://www.mailboxdooralert.com and sign up.

While we are dealing with items in the vicinity of Watchdog Nation Alert: Don’t use the outdoor mailboxes at post offices anymore | Watchdog Nation Blog, every one of the mailing list hosting services that I know of actually deliver your subscribers an email requesting them to verify before they're included on the email list. Even though you might think this is a headache that may cost you some subscribers (such as folks that can't be bothered to reply to the confirmation request), it is actually useful because it will help prevent cases where a person's email is used to subscribe to a list without his / her permission. At least, you will not be falsely accused of spamming anybody.
